It doesn’t matter anymore how big the company is, most of the businesses nowadays are doing internet marketing. That’s because it is the cheapest way to reach a lot of people in the target market. But what is internet marketing exactly?
Defining internet marketing
Internet marketing is also called online marketing or digital marketing, and is the process of promoting a brand, products or services over the internet. Its wider scope includes email marketing, video marketing, podcasts, blog, search engine optimization (SEO), search engine advertising (SEA) and others.
It combines the technical and creative aspects of the internet such as advertising, designing, development and sales. Internet marketing also creates and places ads throughout the various stages of the buyer’s cycle.
I will briefly explain some of the types of internet marketing here.
This is the practice where a business pays a retailer, ecommerce site or a blog for each sale they get through an external link. This link has a certain id, so it can be easily identified and the affiliate receives their money.
This is the form of advertising, where banners are displayed on other websites or blogs to increase traffic to other websites. This, on the other hand, can increase product awareness.
As the name explains it, it is the marketing process that involves reaching out to subscribers via email.
This type of internet marketing involves pulling visitors to the website by providing valuable content and creating trust. The potential customers runs through different stages of the buying behavior.
Google Search engine marketing (SEM)
This is the form of marketing which promotes a businesses website through paid advertising that appears on search engine result pages. This includes paid placement, contextual advertising, paid inclusion or throughs search engine optimization (SEO).
Social media marketing (SMM)
Why is internet marketing so important?
The internet is famous for connecting millions of people from all over the world with websites. It also has the capability to show your business to a lot of people in your target market. The advantage of internet marketing is that it doesn’t cost a lot.
In addition, a campaign can be measured using web analytic tools, like Google Analytics.
